Twist Restaurant & Tapas Bar
Flock to this paradise

Drive by Phipps Plaza any night of the week, and you’ll see modern urbanites sipping colorful martinis and nibbling tasty tapas on the patio (facing Peachtree Street) as they watch other stylish young professionals doing the same. Twist is a place to meet, mingle and see and be seen. Of course it’s a restaurant, too, but Twist’s bar and lounge attract plenty of frequenters in their own right.

The vibe is hip; the patrons, trend-setting. The atmosphere is warm, yet vibrant, and can be a bit intimidating on first glance, as athletes, actors and musicians all have been known to stop by for a $5 mini-martini (and boy, are they mini!). A DJ plays '80s and top 40 hits on Fridays and Saturdays starting at 7 p.m., and although there’s no designated dance floor, visitors occasionally move to the beat, knowing that everyone’s watching. —Carly Felton

Shout

Popular restaurant boasts a hot bar scene

The downstairs at Shout is all about the food: tapas, sushi and pizza. But upstairs, a Miami vibe takes over and the restaurant turns into a hopping bar, filled with groups of friends catching up and guys and gals trying to pick each other up. The large patio looks out at the Midtown skyline, providing a view for those who need a break from dancing.

A DJ spins tunes Thursday through Saturday, and a mixed crowd, ranging in age from 25 to 40, sips beer and cocktails, especially Shout’s signature Pom Pom Martini. Made with Ketel Citron vodka, Monin Pomegranate and simple syrup, it fortifies courage and gets guests mingling. You’ll see everything from power suits (on the after-work crowd) to stylish jeans and trendy tops. Take note: It can get hot out there in the summer.

Despite serving food, Shout upstairs is 21 and up, so patrons need not worry about youngsters invading this vibrant, energetic and chic space. —Carly Felton
