2008 ATIONAL BLACK ARTS FESTIVAL
This 20th annual celebration of black music, film, theater, art and culture features a host of events and attractions including actor Charles S. Dutton’s one-man show “From Jail to Yale … Serving Time On Stage”; a conversation with Dr. Cornel West, Carrie Mae Weems and Wynton Marsalis; the Pan African Film Festival; a World Music Festival featuring Hugh Masekela, Los Hombres Calientes and Roy Ayers; author and playwright Pearl Cleage with Alvin Ailey Artistic Director Judith Jameson; and many more. Festival also includes an artist market at the Georgia World Congress Center and Embrace, the fine arts fair, at Mason Murer Fine Art. Through July 27. CHINA ADOPTION SEMINAR
Free workshop held by Great Wall China Adoption, a nonprofit committed to placing abandoned girls from China. WHITE LINEN AFFAIR

THE LOUVRE AND THE ANCIENT WORLD
More 70 works from the cultures of Greece, Rome and Egypt, through Sept. 7, 2008 at the High Museum of Art. “Street Life: American Photographs from the 1960s and ’70s” continues through Aug. 20. “Houdon at the Louvre: Masters of Enlightenment,” featuring portraiture by Jean-Antoine Houdon, continues through Sept. 7. “Road to Freedom: Photographs of the Civil Rights Movement” and “After 1968: Contemporary Artists and the Civil Rights Legacy” continue through Oct. 5. NUBIAN DREAMS: IMAGES OF THE SUDAN
Exhibition of work by New York Times photographer Chester Higgins, who documents the spiritual and architectural remains of ancient Nubian civilizations, held in the Schatten Gallery of Emory’s Robert W.
