Paul Begala's attack on CNN's Campbell Scott

On Wednesday night, after Gov. Sarah Palin's acceptance of the GOP's vice presidental nomination, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.)  sent a text over to CNN calling Palin's speech "shrill." That word is applied to only one group of people on this planet: women. Period. It denotes, in a very derogatory way, a sense of Victorian hysteria with which the most sexist men tar women. Yet, when Campbell Brown wisely and fairly pointed this out, Democrat sycophant Paul Begala accused Brown of "toning back" her journalistic analysis, as if pointing out this obvious sexist comment by Reid was somehow an indication of softness. Typical of so many bullying sexists, Begala was accusing Brown on national television of not being tough enough to do her job. Begala's attack on Brown was a misogynist assault by a bitter troll of a man (Begala has drunk so much of the liberal Kool-Aid that his hair is orange) on an accomplished reporter. Begala then added a thinly veiled threat that if McCain's VP was going to criticize the media, then maybe it was time the media stopped being so nice to McCain. Only a Democratis fanatic like Begala would make the arrogant assumption that the media is his to use as a tool, that CNN's reporters are his minions and need to be told how to conduct their business. To add further insult, he said while rolling his eyes "No. you know I love Campbell," the way that a father might humour an unruly kid. This man is a noxious presence who consistently fails to provide any real insight into any campaign or any facet of the political process. Don't look to Begala for numerical analysis of the electoral landscape--he never helps John King flesh out those detailed maps. Don't look to Begala for a careful examination of personal motivations--he never helps to support Anderson Coopers insights. Don't look to Begala for an examination of legislative records--he doesn't know anything about them. Begala is an antique Pez dispenser, burping out the same stale candy to the same restless children for all the length of his shallow career.

Humanity being blatantly hypocritical, egocentric and myopic is no surprise to me. I'm over 40, I've seen it long enough to accept such behavior as reality.

Yet as a "journalist", when You use the same hyper-hyperbolic rhetorical style to wage propaganda war on those not sharing your perspective to criticize them for doing the same, you could at least be honest enough to admit that they share your methods, if not your political philosophy.

You have more in common than you readily admit with the various news agencies, writers and commentators your various right-wing "blow-harderies" posted today are attacking.

Ultimately, I think Jesus said it best, so I'll leave him the last word on the issue:

"Don't criticize the speck in your brother's eye if you can't see the beam in your own, Stephanie Ramage."

Paul Bigala's nickname is "Forehead." Let's compare this big city liberal to Sarah Palin. Has the Forehead ever shot a gun? No. Has Forehead ever riden on a snowmobile? No. Has Forehead ever gone ice fishing? No. Forehead is too busy going to the cocktail circuit with Senators and media types, deriding middle America.

John, you have a fascinating way of sizing up people you've never met.

Do I care if Palin has ever fired a weapon? Or drove around on a snowmobile? etc.

No.

But I do care that she originally campaigned for the "Bridge to Nowhere" (actually a pretty good place for a bridge which would have helped develop an entire region of Alaska) then told all of America in her first appearance that she told Congress "Thanks but No Thanks" on the Bridge, then omitted the relevant detail that she TOOK THE MONEY (over $200 million) for the bridge and spent it wherever she wanted.

She deliberately misled the Nation to swing an election toward her political Party.

Hardly valid credentials as a "Reformer" of government.

To put it in concrete terms: If I gave my kid $500 to buy an instrument for band class, then he went off to school, spent the money on other things (even useful things), then came home and said "Dad, I decided to say "Thanks but No Thanks" on joining the school band" - I
would most certainly ask "So where's my $500, I want it back?"

But ya'll "conservatives" find such issues as massive financial fraud and misleading the Electorate trivial compared to whether or not someone can fire a weapon?

Vote Obama.

At least he had the human compassion to turn down lucrative job offers coming out of Harvard Law School to work with the poor and
downtrodden in this once great Land of Ours. That makes him more "real" a person than anyone else in this election.

Speaking of Campbell Brown, I don't see you sticking up for her the other day when McCain canceled his Larry King interview as revenge for her Tucker Bounds interview they didn't like. She's a great, level-headed journalist and she was absolutely right in both instances, and spoke her mind fairly and coolly. That is more than I can say for you, Ms. Ramage. Begala may be someone you disagree with, and you may be right to do so, but name calling is not journalism.

Paul, thanks for referencing the Tucker Bounds interview. I saw it and it was absolute proof that Republicans have no clothes in this election.

When Campbell Brown asked him repeatedly to "Just name ONE decision Palin made" relating to the Alaska National Guard and he kept repeating "She made decisions" - but couldn't name a single one - that was all I had to EVER see to know the McCain folks haven't a brain in their collective skulls.

I am an absolute fanatic about pro-choice. So let's talk about something else.

Guns are good, and I'll be using them.... I'm NOT part of that agenda...

Let's talk about the trillion dollar debt. Because, that's alot of money that makes banks go broke, right?

Bad Business out the door.
